Author's note:  In lieu of an interview, Duchess Elspeth Chandlish sent a letter.  Below is the full missive. 

Dear sir or madame,

     Please accept this apology from the Chandlish family for any destruction that may have occurred.  Rest assured that the loss of your home/business/limbs was not an act of aggression, but rather a case of girls being girls.  My daughters are, at times, a tad impetuous.

     Enclosed is a form requesting a list of any monetary expenditures resulting from the unfortunate event.  Return this form to our corporate offices, along with any other bills you have incurred as a result of the incident.  Please note that by submitting this request, you are absolving the Chandlish family and their business holdings from any further legal recourse.
